Meda Andreea Căpîlna
speaker · children's events and workshops · outdoor education · Cluj-Napoca
My name is Meda Andreea Căpîlna, I live in Cluj-Napoca and I work where culture, education and events meet. I run parties and workshops for children across Cluj, and I speak about how children learn when they are given room.
I am training as a Forest School Teacher and taking a course in pedagogy. In practice that means most of what I do happens outdoors: in a yard, a park, or at the edge of the woods.
Before that I volunteered at a marine conservation centre in Thailand, working with sea turtles — an experience that changed the way I talk to children about nature.
What I do
-
Children's parties
Screen-free birthdays in Cluj-Napoca, built around what the children do rather than what is shown to them. Free play, short workshops, one thread holding it together.
Children's parties in Cluj -
Creative workshops
Sessions on a theme — art, music, natural materials — after which every child leaves with something they made, not a kit they assembled.
The workshops I run -
Outdoor days
Activities in the parks of Cluj and at the edge of the woods: the same place, repeated sessions, unstructured time, and real risk held safely.
What forest school actually is -
Programmes for schools
Workshops and theme days for schools and kindergartens in Cluj, from a single day to a full week, built with the teaching team.
Programmes for schools -
Speaking
I speak about learning through play, unstructured time, and what nature does to the way children grow up. Keynote, workshop or panel.
Topics and formats -
Nature and conservation
I worked with sea turtles at a conservation centre in Thailand. My environmental workshops come out of that — with real tasks rather than presentations.

Learning you can feel
Curiosity starts outside
Meda creates experiences where children observe, ask questions and collaborate. Every activity leaves room for play, personal rhythm and discovery.

Forest school is not a lesson held in a park
Meda Căpîlna on what forest school actually is, why returning to the same place matters more than the place itself, and what the adult is really there to do.

Meda Căpîlna writes from a marine conservation centre in Thailand: the unglamorous daily work, the very long timescales, and what it all means for children.
